Birth Stories
birth photography & postpartum reportages
Documentary stories: from birth to the postpartum days
Birth Stories is my way of capturing the very beginning of your family.
Not as separate moments, but as one story. With space for everything that is and everything that is felt.
You can choose: birth photography, a postpartum (newborn) documentary session, or both together as one complete Birth Story.
It’s Sher, your storytelling birth photographer & postpartum photographer
It's Sherine from Sher Takes Care here, your storytelling photographer based in the Netherlands and available worldwide. Preferably always outdoors, in the woods or among the mountains. Connecting with beautiful people surrounding me and warmed by a nice crackling campfire.

What are Birth Stories?
Birth Stories is about honesty, calmness, and connection.
I capture what unfolds, without direction or interruption. So that later, you won’t just see what happened, but truly feel what it was like to be there together.
This all grew from the birth of my own daughter, Luna. It made me realize, on a much deeper level, the value of photographs during those first moments of a new life together.
The state you enter as a woman during birth feels almost otherworldly. So much strength, so much connection to nature.
To be able to relive that, photographs can help you process and hold those memories. In your own time.
Your little one grows so incredibly fast. Those tiny hands, those uncoordinated movements, tomorrow they will already be different.
The look, the touches, the overwhelming love. And that’s where my role comes in: to pause time, just for a moment, with my camera. For you, to always return to this new beginning.

“We experienced it as something truly special to relive everything through your lens. After our first birth experience, which was quite intense, it felt healing to now look back and see how peacefully our second baby arrived.”
1. Birth Photography
The moment everything changes
Birth is raw, powerful, and deeply vulnerable all at once. I am present from the moment you need me (usually from around 4–5 cm dilation), and I remain in the background so you can stay fully in your own bubble.

2. Postpartum (newborn) photo reportage

The days where everything settles
The postpartum period is often a mix of calm, chaos, softness, and intensity. Maybe there are many visitors, maybe it is quiet.
The house can be messy. Nothing else really matters. Just being together. Taking it all in. And yes, the tears are part of it too. No one can take this time away from you. And that’s exactly where the meaning lives.
This session captures:
-
getting to know each other
-
the in-between moments
-
your new rhythm
-
the chaos of love
-
all the firsts (first bath, feeding, changing, sleeping, etc.)
No posing. Just you, at home, exactly as it is. With new life in your arms.
This is for parents who:
-
don’t want these first days to fade
-
value real, everyday moments
-
want to remember how their family began
Postpartum sessions start from 797,- including:
-
4 hours of photography at your home or in the hospital (within the first 5 days after birth)
-
60 edited high-resolution images (optional: more photos)
-
Online introduction call
-
Preview within 1 week
-
Slideshow of all selected images
-
Surprise album (15x15cm – 15 spreads | option to upgrade)
-
Taxes
-
Excluding travel costs
3. The Birth Story package
One story, from beginning to coming home
For parents who want their story fully captured, there is the Birth Stories Package. This combines Birth Photography & Postpartum Session into one complete and connected story.
Why choose this package?
-
The images flow seamlessly into each other
-
More trust and calmness with one photographer
-
A more complete story to look back on
-
More beneficial than booking separately
This doesn’t feel like “more photos,” but like more memory of this new beginning together.
The Birth Stories package is available for €2197 (birth + postpartum session), offering a €297 advantage compared to separate bookings.

“You brought so much calmness during the birth, it felt so good to have you there. Beforehand, we thought it might feel intrusive to have an extra person present at our home birth, but we barely noticed you. Even your camera made no sound. Your communication beforehand was also very warm and clear.”

FAQ
Do I need to choose between birth or postpartum photography now?
Not necessarily, but it helps with planning and increases the chance of availability if you book in advance.
What if I change my mind during birth?
That is always okay. Your boundaries come first. Nothing is required. I will briefly check in with your birth partner to make a respectful decision together.
Will the images be shared online?
Only with your permission. You own your images. I may ask to share some to inspire others, but this is always discussed with you first.
What if you miss the birth?
Birth is unpredictable. From 37 weeks, I am on standby. If your baby arrives before I get there, there are still many meaningful moments to capture. This happened during my own birth as well. My photographer arrived shortly after, and those images are still incredibly valuable to me.
